THE TURKISH ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY IN 2005

The information and Data Processing Technologies have shown a
remarkable development during the recent years. To take part
among the developed countries in the 21 st. century which is
called "information age" depends upon the electronic and
communication sectors also becoming capable of producing
technology as well as competiveness of our products with those
produced by other countries our globalizing world.
The electronic sector is a very much promising sector to create
the highest employment in the 21 st. Century with it's already
existing about US $1 trillion market volume all around the world
in general. Now the Electronics Industry is not a simple
industry branch anymore, but rather turned into a basic and
generic industry by itself to develope all the other industries.
However, much of the Turkish Electronic Industry may be seen far
from being at desirable dimensions when viewed with respect to
world-wide figures and its share in the Turkish Economy.
The total production of electronic industry in 2005 increased
from 6,8 billion US $'s to 8,15 billion US $'s with increase of
16,3 compare to 2004.
Paralel to increase of total production, an increase has been
watched in export by 10,3 % in compare to 2004 which was
amounted from 4 029 million US $'s to
4 445 million US $'s.
It can be said that Turkish Electronic Industry produce mainly
toward to exports. In 2005; 76,87 % (3 417,3 million US$'s) of
the total export belongs to European Union Countries.
Germany ranked top in these countries to which exports were made
773,5 million US $'s followed by England 749,3 million US $'s,
Holland with 356,4 million US's, Italy 314,3 million US $'s,
Spain with 269,2 million US $'s.
When we look at the import of Electronic Industry we observe an
increase of 21,2 comparaed to 2004 (from 8,9 billion US $'s to
10,8 billion US $'s)
In 2005, 41,22 % (4 466, 5 million US $'s) of total import
belongs to EU countries. Germany with 1 021,7 million US $'s,
Hungary with 481,3 Million US $'s, Sweden with 431,5 million US
$'s, France with 391,7 million US $'s, Italy with 377,16 million
US $'s, Finland with 342,5 million US $'s.
